Angel From Montgomery

Make me an angel that flies from Montgomery
Make me a poster of an old rodeo
Just give me one thing one thing I can hold on to
To believe in this livin’ just a hard way to go

I am an old man named after my father
Now lady is another child who’s grown old
If dreams were thunder and lightening was desire
This old house would have burned down a long time ago

When I was a young man now I was a cowboy
I weren’t much to look at but a free ramblin’ man
But that was a long time and no matter how much I try
Those years just flow by like a broken down dam.

There’s flies in the kitchen Lord I can hear’em buzzin’
Ain’t done nothin’ since I woke up today
How the hell can a person go to work in the mornin’
Come home in the evenin’ and have nothin’ to say?
