Brother Duets

During the 30’s and 40’s, before Bluegrass as we know it had developed, there was a proliferation of duet acts performing old-time country music, often with mandolin and guitar. These groups frequently featured the uniquely blended harmony singing of two brothers. One of these acts, the Monroe Brothers, included the future “father of Bluegrass Music”, Bill Monroe. The duet acts continue to be a rich source of material for the bluegrass repertoire, with themes of religion, home and family.
